LASTRUP -- Gladys Kapsner, 56, Lastrup, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at home.

She was born May 25, 1945, in Lastrup to Joseph and Emma (Girtz) Peine. She attended school in Lastrup and Pierz. She married Jeron Kapsner on Aug. 18, 1964, in Lastrup. They lived in Granite Township where they farmed and raised their family.

She began volunteering in the Pierz School District in the 1970s. She was a paraprofessional in Lastrup, Pierz and the Onamia School District. She was a member of the Lastrup Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her mother; her husband; three sons, Russ Kapsner, Big Lake, Gordon Kapsner, Pierz, and Ted Kapsner, Lastrup; two daughters, Nancy Schlegel, Pierz, and Kristin Kapsner, at home; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Girtz, Chaska, and Randy Peine, Cambridge, Wis.; and a sister, Bernie Jacobson, Howard, S.D.

Her father died earlier.
